Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
General
1. What does HACON CONTAINERS supply?
We supply shipping containers for storage, logistics, and project use. This includes standard sizes such as 20ft and 40ft, plus selected specialty types depending on availability (high cube, side access configurations, insulated units, and refrigerated containers where listed).
2. Where are you located?
HACON CONTAINERS is registered in the Netherlands with operational support in the United States. U.S. orders are fulfilled through our Houston, Texas operations.
3. Do you deliver across the United States?
Yes—delivery is available across the United States, subject to carrier availability and site accessibility. Some remote locations may require additional scheduling time or special routing.
4. Can I see the container before buying?
In many cases, we can provide recent photos and container details before dispatch. Physical viewing depends on inventory location, safety rules at the yard, and scheduling. If you need viewing, contact us early so we can confirm whether it’s feasible for your specific order.
Container Conditions & Specifications
5. What’s the difference between New (One-Trip), Wind & Watertight, and Cargo-Worthy?
- New (One-Trip): Typically used once in international cargo. May have minor handling marks.
- Used (Wind & Watertight): Pre-owned container that remains sealed from wind and water ingress; cosmetic wear is normal.
- Used (Cargo-Worthy): Suitable for continued transport use under standard conditions; visual wear is expected.
6. Are used containers all the same?
No. Used containers are industrial assets and vary in appearance. Dents, surface rust, paint variations, and markings are normal and do not necessarily affect performance. Your listing’s condition category is the main guide.
7. Are containers “brand new”?
Shipping containers are not marketed as “factory-new” unless stated under recognized industry definitions. “New (One-Trip)” typically means the container has completed a single cargo journey and may show light handling marks.
Pricing & Quotes
8. What affects the price of a container?
Pricing depends on container size, type, condition category, market availability, and any requested upgrades or modifications.
9. Does the website price include delivery?
Unless clearly stated otherwise, product pricing excludes delivery. Delivery costs depend on destination, container type, and site access. Final shipping details are confirmed prior to dispatch.
10. Do you offer bulk pricing?
For multi-unit orders, pricing may be different due to logistics planning and volume handling. If you’re purchasing multiple containers, request a quote with quantity and delivery ZIP code(s).
Shipping & Delivery
11. How long does delivery take in the U.S.?
Freight delivery timelines vary by destination and scheduling. For many U.S. deliveries, estimated timelines typically fall within 3 to 10 business days after order confirmation, depending on routing and carrier availability. These are estimates—not guarantees.
12. How are containers delivered?
Containers are delivered using freight equipment such as tilt-bed or flatbed delivery, depending on container type, carrier availability, and site conditions. The delivery method is confirmed during scheduling.
13. What do I need to prepare at my delivery site?
You should ensure:
- clear vehicle access and turning space
- a reasonably level, stable placement surface
- no low-hanging obstructions (trees, power lines, structures)
- someone available to receive delivery if appointment-based
If a site is not accessible, carriers may charge waiting time or redelivery fees.
14. Do you handle permits or site placement requirements?
Local permits, zoning rules, and site compliance vary by city and county. Customers are responsible for checking local requirements. We can share general delivery guidance, but final site compliance remains the customer’s responsibility.
Payments, Tax & Documentation
15. What payment methods do you accept?
Payment methods depend on the order type and checkout availability. Bank transfer is commonly used for high-value purchases, and card payment may be available depending on order value and verification requirements. Full payment is required before dispatch scheduling is finalized unless a written deposit arrangement is approved for your order.
16. Will I be charged sales tax?
Sales tax may apply based on delivery location and applicable rules. If your purchase is tax-exempt, valid exemption documentation is required for review and approval before payment where applicable.
17. Do you provide invoices and purchase documentation?
Yes. Order confirmation and invoices can be provided for accounting records. If you require documentation for internal procurement, tell us at the time of order.
Returns, Refunds & Cancellations
18. What is your return window?
We use a two-stage framework:
- 7 days after delivery for inspection and reporting issues such as wrong unit, wrong condition category, major functional issues not consistent with the listing, or transport-related damage.
- Up to 30 days for conditional return requests, subject to eligibility requirements (for example, the container must not be modified or used beyond inspection).
19. What does “conditional return” mean?
It means return eligibility depends on the container remaining in substantially the same condition as delivered, without modifications, misuse, or extended operational use. Freight return handling may also involve return transport costs depending on the reason for return.
20. Can I cancel after ordering?
Cancellations may be possible before dispatch scheduling is finalized. If inventory allocation or carrier scheduling has already started, cancellation may involve administrative or carrier costs. Details are explained in the Return & Refund Policy.
Customization & Modifications
21. Do you offer modifications like doors, windows, insulation, or electrical fit-outs?
Some modifications may be available depending on the project scope and scheduling. Modification work varies widely in complexity and must be confirmed case-by-case.
22. How long do modifications take?
Timeframes depend on the type of modification, materials availability, and workshop scheduling. If you have a deadline, discuss it before placing the order so the timeline can be assessed realistically.
23. Do you sell refrigerated (reefer) containers?
Refrigerated containers may be available depending on inventory. Product listings should specify whether the unit is refrigerated, insulated-only, or sold for storage use. Buyers should confirm intended use before purchase.
